Live Podcasts! MeetThe Lab Man
SLAS Director of Education Steve Hamilton, Ph.D. (AKA The Lab Man) records podcasts live from the SLAS Member Center. Join him while he talks with winners of the student poster competition and the SLAS New Product Award designation. Afterward, talk with The Lab Man personally to share your thoughts and ideas for SLAS educational programs and initiatives.

Journals Unveil New Cover Designs
SLAS publishes two peer-reviewed scientific journals in partnership with SAGE Publications - the Journal of Biomolecular Screening (JBS) and the Journal of Laboratory Automation (JALA). Meet members of the publishing team, learn more about the journals' new cover designs, editorial scope and find out:

  • How to search, secure and manage information via JALA Online and JBS Online
  • How to submit an original scientific manuscript in JALA or JBS
  • How to increase awareness, discoverability and citations of published manuscripts

Student Poster Award Winners
More than 60 undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students participate in the SLAS2013 Student Poster Competition. A panel of judges selects the top three during the Monday poster presentation session, and the winners are announced at the Member Center on Monday at 5:00 pm. The top three will be featured in a Lab Man podcast live in the Member Center also at 5:00 pm on Monday.

SLAS2013 Passport to Prizes
Entries to the SLAS2013 Passport to Prizes program are collected in the SLAS Member Center during exhibit hours, and winners are drawn from all entries received by 3 pm on Tuesday, January 15. Winners must be present to claim their prizes!

Interact with Florida's Elite FIRST Competition Teams
F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. The FIRST Robotics Competition is a global experience that helps young scientists see the value of education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. SLAS is proud to welcome FIRST as a partner at SLAS2013. Be sure to check back later as we announce the top FIRST teams from Florida that will showcase their winning robots at SLAS2013.
